Tell camaro.com what you think…

It sounds like GM was not trying to duplicate the 1st generation Camaro exactly when they came up with the concept car we have seen at the auto shows and in magazines. We took this photo of the actual concept car at the Chicago Auto Show:

If you watch the interview with GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, you come away with a feeling that the concept is intended to be a more “modern” interpretation. Thats all well and good, but there are bound to be some folks out there that really want a Camaro that more faithfully attempts to mirror to 67′ - 69′ models.

So we here at camaro.com decided to “tweak” the concept design ever so slightly. On the whole, the concept looks very reminiscent of the first generation design. You may find that this “doctored-up” photo more closely resembles the original car:

The changes are subtle. We changed the nose, tail, and opened up the side window a bit. Our goal was to see if our readers think the concept should remain more true to its legacy, or follow GM’s plan to be a more “modern” looking vehicle. Please comment on this post and tell us what you think. Remember that this site is not affiliated with GM or Chevrolet, and we do not claim that this design modification is in any way tied to their plans for the next Camaro. We just want to get a discussion started about which direction they should take.

Here are the two images side by side to give you a better idea of the subtle difference. The image on the left is the real concept car, the one on the right has our suggested changes:

I do not like the new look of the camaro. I am a die hard chevy man. But i think chevy is trying to hard to compete with other companies, they were doing just fine. The new camaro is to “advanced”. The car needs to stick to it’s muscle car name and apperance. This car looks like a 2 door lexus. Yes a few lines look simalar to the 69….but not many. Yes i want the camaro back…..but not looking like this.

  2. 2 KNIG OF QUEENS

Well major changes has been made in the camaro but thats not a big issue.the main changes we want is in the hexaust system soung and the power of the engine.
the sound will be more enjoyeble if it comes from the engine and from the hexaust.

  3. 3 3barcowboy

I disagree…I like the new Camaro. I think that the style and the horsepower is going to blow the Mustang’s out of the water. With the 21″ front tires and 22″ back along with the Corvette V-8 engine. It’s going to be an incredible machine. As long as they keep it affordable for all people. Can’t wait to own one…I want one NOW!!

  4. 4 redneck1

I am a big camaro fan i think they should change it it looks too much like a luxrey car i think it should stick to its muscle car roots

  5. 5 RobinKevin

I like the new Camaro. Ihope that Chevy makes the new Camaro. the apperance and stance is just he way it needs to be. Please Chevy make this car!

  6. 6 luis

I Think the camaro is ok but not the best cause of it looks.Need to make it mean more like 1994-1997 camaro”s

  7. 7 chriscross

i hate it.everybody likes the old camaros so why not start out with the 67-68 body style and tweak it.update it just enough to make it different and use a modern chassis with a modern drivetrain.also make it safe with airbags and crumple zones.i saw other camaros with fuel injected motors and even a complete new style interior and said to myself why cant gm do this.the mustang has kinda painted them selves into a corner with their retro style.the camaro in the early years has gone through three body styles in four years from 67-70.so i say start out with the 67-68 body style and then change it to the 69 style then on to the early 70s style.i think it would look alot better than the silver bat mobile that gm came up with.

  8. 8 camarogirl

I am a die hard camaro girl I will not drive anything else I pray that the new camaro does come out I also like the idea of it looking like the 69 but from the pictures I’ve seen of the concept car it looks way to much like a mustang and for that reason I would not buy it make it more like a camaro and less like a mustang and I will be in line to buy one.

  9. 9 JB

I love this new Camaro. Its sleek body lines, and its beautiful interior. One thing that I think would look really good on this car that is not on it is the lights that were on the 1978 camaros. I’ve always loved the rear end on it.But the lights that are on it now are mint. On behalf of me and my camaro loving friends, I say that this car should be put into production! I’ts one of a kind!

P.S- If it is put into production, It has to be rear wheel drive!!!

  10. 10 CamaroChriSS

I think although your version looks nice, i prefer the real one. its more agressive looking and im glad chevy didnt copy ford and dodge and go completly retro. the mustang and challenger will get old much faster then the camaro

  11. 11 EuroCamaro

I own a 2000 Camaro with T-Tops, 3.8 liter and I will be keeping it as the new one looks as though they hired a design person from
MACK truck and rehired an old designer who left GM in 1970.
Why is it that despite the failure of the retro-Thunderbird,
retro SSR pickup et al, GM persists in trying to shove this
    retro down our throats?
Is this the best then can do? Why is it Porsche can design the new car Cayman with 5% of the resources of a GM? I think they just better judgement. I predict that they will be offering rebates within 4 months of the introduction of this clunky Camaro.
GM just keeps making mistakes over and over and over and they just don’t care…clearly.

  12. 12 mrelaxed

    Hi,

I recently found out about the new Camaro concept! PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ bring it into the market soon!!! I just started working after graduation, and im gonna start saving up for the new car so i can be among the first lucky people to bring it home as soon as it comes into the market!!!!

I love the fact tht the car can get gr8 highway mileage also! thts the best news possible in today’s age, whn the gas prices r going up!

    I LOVE THE CAR!!!!!

  13. 13 z28CamaroGrl

I think that this is the car for the future! I really like the design, and it looks real expensive and up to date! I am really excited for this car to come out. I have a ‘98 z28 camaro, and I am looking forward to a new and improved car.

  14. 14 nomanrs

The changes were subtle. I think the windshield should tilt a little less. Unless you sit on the floor, you will not be able to see out of this car. Have you ever tried looking out rear view mirrors like this…ick. They must be at least 2-3 times the surface area. I don’t mind the front end, I think it could use some hockey stick stripes.

  15. 15 andres.0684

I am very pleased with this new concept camaro, general motors should definitely put into production fast, and i mean fast. I get more anxious everyday because i want this car so bad. Count me in “General motors bring back the camaro”!!!!!!!

  16. 16 bigblock_ron89

It may not be a total remake of the classic… but it does have that clasic style going for it but not enough… it looks a little too forign….what happened to the original? I dont want a modern looking car I want a true clasic made with madern materals and modern power. Well at least it looks better than the GTO.

  17. 17 fantasydragon

i have never been real big on the last designe of the camaro, but this one is “holy shit bad ass” like, i would love to get my hands on it, espeically if they dont change the concept designe, that is the concept designe right, and rallysport8, it is called a retro look, it is supposed to look advanced, and after a year or so i think its been gone, i might be rong, i would hope it looks more advanced then the last model

  18. 18 car_guy

looking at the new camaro i must say it looks great. but there are some things i think you should work on. first it looks as to small for the interinor it looks as if someone who where a little taller than others would have some trouble getting in and out but others than that it looks awesome. to all the people that made this car , great job.

from the biggest camaro fan out there, trent

  19. 19 Al Robinson

I think the Camaro will be a huge success reguardless of which front/rear end is used. The concept or your modified version. The after market will have a field day with products to satisfy the diverse tastes of Camaro lovers. Those who want traditional and those who want to modernize a classic design. People will want to create those cars they remember in their youth. Some will want those hood stacks like those on the SS396. Some will want “SS” stripes or “SS or”RS” grilles like those pictured on the web site www.camaro5.com (my favorite is the Black Z28 rendition). As far as the engine is concerned, I think there will be enough people out there who can easily push the LS1 to 430 HP with no problem. My comment to Mr. Lutz, remenber the famos line “Build it and they will come”. We will be willing to pay a little more for this awsome vehicle. You took the chance on the SSR and HHR. Why not this american icon?

  20. 20 Al Robinson

You will never please everyone. You modified version looks good too. The main difference is the size of the openings of the egg crate grille. Smaller openings are a closer rendition of the original and are proportionatly more pleasing. Bob Lutz stated in the interview on this site, suggesting using 19″ or 20″ wheels. I would strongly suggest 20’s. Based upon the design concept of a higher beltline, the larger wheels would give the car a more balanced look. Additionally the current trend toward chrome wheels should be an option when (because it’s coming) the camaro comes out. This could be a dealer upgrade, because there are many companies who provide OEM wheels in chrome.

  21. 21 NT3MDTR

I was very upset when GM discontinued the Camaro. After hearing the news I had decided to keep my 2000 Chevy Camaro SS and purchasing another Camaro possibly a 1969 Camaro. Now I am very enthusiastic about the new Camaro. I will purchase the new Camaro without hesitation. I am looking forward to it.

    NT3MDTR

  22. 22 kwarchak

When I see a 2006 Mustang coming down the road, my first thought is wow, check out this 67 stang, no wait, its a new 2006, looks great! When I saw the Camaro Concept car from the front, I see a Cadillac. It just doesn’t do it for me and others I’ve talked to. Those 22 inch gangsta wheels gotta go! It has gotta resemble the 69 Camaro in my opinion. I would never purchase one if it looked like the concept car but I have considerd buying one of the new mustangs. Power is very important but it’s gotta look right first……..

  23. 23 JOEMEXICAN

I think the car is kicks ass they should leave the car the way it is. The car look great I would like to buy it when It comes out I got a 92 camaro converible with 65 original miles and it still runs great. But this car if on fire a gm keep this style on the camaro don’t change it.

  24. 24 GMan

Ok, I dont mind the car, I think its ok, way better than the damned rustangs. But I think they gotta get rid of the damn chevy bowtie in the grill!! it looks so out of place and dumb. Why not put the traditional badge there with the red white and blue? that would look way better. DOWN WITH MUSTANGS!!

  25. 25 babygirl27202

I think the car looks great don’t change it. People that want to buy a ford mustang is crazy.Camaro will beat a ford mustang anytime anyday. Y cuz its a chevy

  26. 26 revblugenes

I think it is awesome. Can’t wait to buy it when it comes out. I had a 69Z and this reminds me of those days. I love the sleek speedster lines, the modern look, & I can’t wait to feel the updated power plant. Truly, an awesome addition to the Chevy tradition. Let me know when they are available.

  27. 27 pearlfav88

Totally a die-hard chevy my myself. 69′ is the best year and always will be. The new model has many similarities to the 1st generation, and should be put on the market. Regardless of the few negative posts and comments, this thing will sell like Benadrill to a old-crazed dog. people will love it; I myself will purchase one, and I am praying for it constantly. Chevy - Just Do It!

  28. 28 steveZ28

I’m sorry, but this new Camaro looks ridiculous. Every damn car company these days wants to make all of their cars look like futuristic luxury concept cars. Whatever happened to designing a car with smooth, flowing contours? Chevy is just following right behind Ford, creating cars that are horribly ’square’, with hard lines and edges that could put an eye out. Give me a break. Nothing will ever top the look of the 4th generation Camaro (93-97), so they might as well scrap this piece of junk and not even try.

  29. 29 camaroman_92

the 2006 camaro looks cool but it is not better than the original camaro i mean i think they did a hell of a job trying to bring back the look but it is just not the same as it always was. i hoped that they would have made it look like the 1985-1992 body style.

  30. 30 toytrick

some dude drew a picture for a camaro back in 2000 and sent it to hot rod or super chevy magazine asking chevy to make it the 05 camaro and this site had it posted up here a few years ago.it was a red camaro drawn in color pencils and looked like the concept car out now, where would i be able to find the picture now? chevy, you gotta make this concept for the public. get a chevy before one gets you.

  31. 31 KNIG OF QUEENS

THE NEW CAMARO HAS A WONDERFULL NEW SHAPE WHICH SHOWS THAT ITS NOT WHAT ITS MADE TO BE. THE OLD CAMARO WAS A CAR WHICH LOOKED MORE LIKE A MUSCLE CAR BUT THE NEW ONE LOOKS LIKE A PEACEFULL CAR. I WONDER WHAT CAN IT MAKE OUT THERE IN THE REAL TRACK. MY SELF IF IM GOING TO BUY THE NEW CAMARO, I WONT BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT THE WAY I WANT.
IT LOOKS MORE LIKE A LAXURY SPORTS CAR.

  32. 32 JB

Ok. Im gonna be honest. This new camaro needs to look more like the 1978’s. I have that car and besides the 1969, you cant beat that year. It has unbelieveable body lines and its got the look of a true muscle car. They need to add more features form the 70’s at least. Like the rear end. If you really look at the back end of that car, it is really HOT!!

  33. 33 motive power z28

OK!! here is the what I think, GM should not have stop the production line of the camaro and should of made it more gas reliable for the people, like having a v6 package and a v8 package for people to choose from. The new look that the camaro has has that retro look to it but with the modern design. Personally I like the third generation and the first generation camaro compared to the second & fourth generation camaro witch I don’t really enjoy but don’t get me wrong its still an aswome car. So I’ll I have to say is bring back the camaro so the enthusiast can enjoy the car.

  34. 34 fantasydragon

ok, i dont care what other people think, espiecally the older guys the grew up whith the older camaro’s, but i think chevy did a really nice job on the new camaro, i will really make the YOUNGER CAR BUYERS want to buy this vehicle, notice as i say YOUNGER, but there is nothing rong with the old ones like from the 70’s and stuff, they are still bad ass, but this one is ment for a new generation

  35. 35 JAYBABY

I have had a 69, a new 71, a 74,a 79 (all v8s) and now I have an 89 v8 t-top that I have had for 10 yrs. The new concept car looks awful.I new they would screw it up.Why don,t they do a 69 that looks like a 69 with better brakes etc. 69 is the most popular camaro ever made. The new mustang is beautiful because it looks like a 69 mustang only better. The new camaro concept car looks like it is meant for rich people. Rich people don’t buy camaros, they buy corvettes. The camaro was and should remain the poor mans corvette.

  36. 36 camarosslover

i love camaro’s. i just want one. the concept camaro looks great. it’s beautifull and i can’t wait for them to bring it out.i can’t wait to trade my 2006 corvette for the new camaro.

  37. 37 mjones

Hey! Point blank, Case Closed. I saw the car at the auto show and for those who did’nt see it face to face. The pictures on the web sites don’t do it justice. That car is the bomb!. I heard a few negative comments about the 300C when it was due to be released. Will the records speak for itself. Sells, Sells and more sells. But since I’m a Camaro man , give me the opportunity to get that same ooohs and ahhhs from driving this vehicle. It’s new and has a classic look all its own. For those who are stuck totally on the old version and compete retro look. Why not just by you and older model of the one you want.

Ex: Jordan retired from basketball, Joe Montana does’nt quarterback any more and Andy and Barney left Mayberry years ago. Let it go old heads, let it go. The new Camaro is and will be a major hit. I’ll be one of the first in line to get one. I sort of hope everybody dose’nt get one you know what I mean. I truly feel it looks just that good.

  38. 38 runnerdon

I personally have owned three Camaros. I had two 1969 Camaor Z/28s set up for slalom and time trials, and I currently have a 1998 Camaro SS that I run at open track events. My brother has a 1969 Mark Donohue TransAm replica. My son has a fully restored 1969 Z/28, and my son-in-law has 1 1968 Camaro he is restoring.

None of us like the proposed Camaro concept car. It appears too big, too heavy, and seems to be going after the Chrysler street crusier look with the tall body, short windows and oversized, heavy wheels and tires. This, to me, is not of any interest. I would buy another Camaro if it had more of the sleekness and grace of the original, with modern instrumentation and performance features. Again, I am afraid that the current car will be so heavy that it will be a repeat of the current Pontiac GTO disaster. Not a bad car, but too heavy and the performance is not nearly as good as the generation four Camaro/Firebird.

Most of all, Chevrolet and GM in general, have to stop looking like a me-too car company and show some leadership.

  39. 39 1969SS

If they make the camaro I will be surprised if it looks anything like the concept I will even be more surprised.I am a die hard chevy man but I have no confidence in them any more for making a good looking muscle car.Look what GM did to the GTO does anybody else remember what the concept looked like?It was great, so what did they do they screwed it up and made it look like some import. If you took the badges off you probably would think it’s just another Honda. So I look for GM to screw the Camaro up too.I have a 69 and am very partial to them so yes I would like to see it look more like a first gen.I have to agree with jaybaby on his comments about the Mustang and the reason GM should make the Camaro more retro looking maybe GM should hire some Ford technicians at least they know and understand what the people want.Oh and for you younger folks that think the fourth gen. Camaro is all that I have to laugh that is one of the plainest and whimpy looking Camaros ever built.

  40. 40 silveradofla

I bought my 1st Camaro in 1973 when I graduated Highschool.
I have had a number of them since then but I have to say I wouldn’t be interested in buying one of the new ones, their UGLY!!!!!! Please General Motors change the front. That front end is Terrible. You have plenty of time before producrion is suppose to start. If you need any help I’m sure I can get my 2 year old grandaughter to help your desing team.

  41. 41 rjc9723@msn.com

please hurry, tweak it to more retro, offer an rs,ss, and poss. a z too, rear wheel drive, and a bad v-8, but hurry

  42. 42 gotIROC

I really like the new style except for a few things. I have two camaro’s so I am into them. It looks too much like a torino or a mustang for my taste though. It needs gound effects of something to make it better. A spoiler would make it look better too. It needs to longer, wider sleeker around the edges. the lights make it look way too much like a mustang and the wheel housings make it look like a torino. The rear lights need to be more like the second and third generation style. The front needs to redesigned and made separate from the fenders. The reason the car needs to be longer is so that the winds shield can be larger and angled more horizontally. The rims are all wrong too. BUT OTHER THEN THAT IT IS GREAT. If you want to see what kind of changes I would make to it give me a ring!!!!!!!!! ( theheavenspawn@yahoo.com )

  43. 43 nicole1967

beautiful car,,it would be hard to replicate the old one anyway!id buy one

  44. 44 fantasydragon

ok, i have put a few comments up here already, i have pretty much said what i thought about the vehicle, but i have to say this, for all you rapper wanna be’s, i dont care if you get the car, just for the love of god, dont make it into one of those low rider piece of shits with the 10 inch rims, or put those big ass 20 inch rims on them, or any of that other crap you rappers like on those, that shit doesnt even deserve to be mentioned with camaro, or any other muscle car for that matter, if it were up to me, i would take every muscle car that had been turned into a lowrider piece of shit, take it out to the desert and nuke them, just to put them out of there misery, so all you rapper wanna be’s, stay away from the camaro if you have plans to put that rapper crap shit on them

  45. 45 92_ camaro RS fan

THE NEW CAMARO LOOKS AWSOME I HOPE THE PRICE IS AROUND
    20,000

BUT ALL IT NEEDS TO WRAP IT ALL UP IS

    T-TOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAMAROS ARE NOT CAMAROS WITHOUT T-TOPS, T-TOPS MAKE THE CAMARO LOOK SO NICE!

MAKE THE NEW CAMARO WITH T-TOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. 46 fshnxs

I hope GM doesn’t let this be another disaster like the new GTO. Take a look at the success Ford has with the new Mustang. It looks like what it’s supposed to be. The new Camaro needs to be more retro in looks. The new concept is a nice looking “new” car, but a “retro” Camaro, it is not! It’s too boxy, and the rearend looks like it’s already backed into a wall. It looks more like a cross between a Corvette backhalf and a Cadillac frontend. If you’re going to build on the concept of a 69 Camaro, then at least try and make it look like one ! Just build a modern rear wheel drive, high horsepower, safe, muscle car. Oh, and by the way, lose those gangsta wheels & tires.

  47. 47 ryukyu

The concept car looks okay, but the design varies too much from the 1st generation Camaros which was so popular. Too much effort was made into modernizing the exterior, the designers missed the mark to mimic the great original style. Chevy would have been better off using the 1st generation body style and modernizing the rest. As it stands, I would prefer to purchase a ‘69 RS/SS in fair shape and rebuilding. The final cost will be cheaper and the car will be better looking.

The concept car will sell because of a loyal fan base; however, if Chevy stayed with the original body style (with minor modifications), sales would have kept production of the Camaro going for another 25 years. I’m betting Chevy will stop selling production of the concept Camaro in less than 6 years due to poor sales. As you can guess, I’m not buying. :-)

Too bad Chevy wouldn’t let the consumer design the new Camaro. If so, it wouldn’t look like the concept car shown. It would probably look more like the original. There’s an idea! Let the consumer determine the car they want rather than having a business tell us what we want. I’m guessing sales would skyrocket.

  48. 48 1970z28.10727

I feel that GM needs to Start from day one and make new camaros with the original features, replacas of 1967,68,69,70s just with todays materials and hopefull use and all aluminum small block based on the 3970010 cast iron block and heads based on the 3927186 cast iron heads and a ZL1 block this way the interchange of parts from the all aluminum to cast iron will swap straight up. Change the vehicle to actually tell what year it without a lot of looking

  49. 49 Slebonson

This car is AWESOME I have driven camaros all my life and I love this car!!! I’d buy one now site unseen! Good thing they are coming out with a new camaro cause my 2000 is getting a little tired….

  50. 50 AMACHER1977

I know most people have the fantasy of owning there dream machine. I have seen a lot of nice vehicles on the road. I work at a repair facility, and have been for about ten years now. I think Chevy needs to get back in the game for sports cars! There is a real shortage of rear wheel drive vehicles on the market with real performance. I will tell you what I have heard from talking to people, and doing some brain storming of my own. Everyone wants a car that they can do a lot of simple upgrades to, and get a lot of power out of it. Probably the best way would be to have it preset for mods i.e. “bolt on turbo kits, bolt on super charger “with intercoolers in the kit so they don’t lean out the motors with too much heat, and blow them up!!”
I have so many ideas it’s not even funny. You want the customer, but at the some time they are looking for what they want. Not for someone to show them “here try this”. Give them the option of it, but here is the kicker. The base line vehicle “if the customer my only be able to afford that type of car at the time” let it be upgradeable to the high line!!!!! With some upgrades they can get the same horse power, suspension, wheels, body kits, interment kits. The body style for the concept is very cool!! A long way from the G6 “which I thought was too much of a sedan” looking vehicle.” I don’t care how much power you put in it. It did not have that muscle car look”, but that is the part that is fun about it!! Ok well just think about it.

  51. 51 kissfanalive

the front end realy needs changed. it looked too much like a luxerie car (cadillac). the side windows realy need the change to. it looks too much like a chop top like on a low rider. the wheels are also wrong the rims are too big @ the tires shouldn’t be low profile at least not to that extent ,(over all diameter ok just smaller rims). low rider again. it needs to look like a musle car @ the concept car misses that point. the redo looks much better but coud still use a little more refining.

  52. 52 chevyII

Chevy’s are great. Own a 1965 Chevy II and owned two Camaro’s a 1987 and a 1996 Z28. The new concept is perfect anyway you want to make it!! Just bring it back so I can buy another one, but make the performance and handling more like the modern Camaro (My ‘96 was great!!!). I have four years till I am 50 years old and want an another Camaro to enjoy during my mid-life crisis.

  53. 53 ChevyCamaroGirl

Love it! I do agree on it staying faithful to the original Camaro design. The whole point is that Camaros are awesome machines. They need to be one up on the competion always, and smoke them Mustangs……

  54. 54 banka17

I can’t wait for a new Camaro to come out. But I think that the Camaro show car should have more or the 1968, 69
    look to it.
As it stands now, I think Ford did a better job with their
Mustang than Chevy did with the Camaro.

  55. 55 toytrick

for 1969ss dude. the 4th gen camaro may have looked whimpy, but how whimpy would it look when mine shits you out on the road?

  56. 56 gurulu68

I have a 68 rs that I disigned my own ground fx for and the first generation look is awsome, I love it, though I think the concept camaro looks a little to much like a caddy. I agree they should change the nose and make it look like the doctored up version, but the rest looks fine, I’m sure there will be after market spoilers and ground fx that will make it look even better. just build it and we will come.

  57. 57 JROV

I like the retro design although I prefer the “z” car from 1987-1992. GM needs to get off their ass, make a decision, and put it into production. I want one!

  58. 58 89camaroNC

If that is what the new car is to look like I will not be rushing out to buy it. I was hoping for more of the look of the first generation cars. This new car looks to much like a family car than a muscle car. I don’t like the big wheels either.

  59. 59 CamaroChickIA

Ok so from the time the new MUSTANG came out I sat around and laughed at the fact that it looked as if it had ran into a wall in the front and the back I do understand GM is going for the old look but WHY copy FORD I personally like the coned front end all in all i love the concept car and im glad camaro is coming once again but the front and back end needs to be different. If I wanted a car that looked like it ran into a wall dont u think i would have bought a mustang!!!!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOL YEAH RIGHT I WILL NEVER OWN A FORD I like a car I can depend on =)

  60. 60 wilbear

A while back I was going to buy a camaross, yes, a new one!
    Damned glad I didn’t ! I instead bought a new charger !
It is a great roomy comfortable car, great gas mileage too!
But, Now I am in the market for a great camaro convertible ! BRING IT ON BOYS !
Handling package, over 400 useable horses, six speed,
nav package with six disc player too !

  61. 61 jules

Hello….. I would love to see this camaro come out and be amongst our wonderful muscle cars!! I love camaros as a matter of fact i own an 89 rs and i really appreciate this type of car… i owned a newer one and wasnt as happy but the body and the way this one concept car is i would love to test drive it and possibly buy it someday!! The camaro is not dead just resting for its next attack and i will be ready for when it strikes!!!

  62. 62 PokerQueen

I Love this car. I am so hoping I will be able to buy one!!!! I do agree that the motor and exhaust system needs to sound like a muscle car. I have been thinking about what color I would like. Affordability is a major factor also. Just hurry up and make that beautiful car for the new generation of us that want it.

  63. 63 bed_85

I like the camaro alot. I own a 96Z and a 2000Z. It would be disappointing to me if they did not come back with the camaro.

  64. 64 dreamman3401

Alright, look I have a 1989 Iroc and I’m having trouble finding an exact replacement temperature gauge. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Please email me at: dreamman3401@yahoo.com

  65. 65 Z28MaroGrl

I love the new Camaro. I love the fact that they resemble the First Gen. Camaros. Yeah, they are a bit on the retro side, but give it a chance. I think they are very sleek and sexy. Most importantly they are going to be pretty quick too~!~

  66. 66 auzenne_12

I am in love with this car. I just wish they would hurry up. The car is just fine the way it is. This was the year I was going to buy a car but I’m waiting patiently for my Camaro. So please hurry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  67. 67 rodzilla

I am glad to see Chevy finally come to their sense and bring back the mustang killer. They should have never taken it off the market in the first place. Regardless to what others may think, I like the new design because you have to keep up with the trends. Dodge is making the charger look like the older models and ford is doing the same thing with the mustang. I think Chevy hit the nail on the head when they design this car, my only problem is it isn’t coming out sooner. I hope chevy speeds up the process and brings the camaro back before 2008-2009 because I know some people including myself that would buy this car TODAY!

  68. 68 Brian Fee

I don’t care at all for the concept car and would never buy
it. I feel the same about the new Mustang and the Challenger. Chevrolet needs to create a totally new, advanced design to regain leadership. They should create something like the great red sedan they showed several years ago and never built so now we have an Impala SS to fight the imaginitive Dodges and Chryslers. As a matter of fact if they built that sedan I’m not sure I’d miss the Camaro.
    Besides I already have a 98 Z28 that I really like.

By the way if Chevrolet does make any version of the Camaro
they might try the unique concept of advertising it which is something they never did for the old ones so a crappy Mustang outsold a far superior car.

  69. 69 Fastone

Nice to see the Camaro back. Hopefully it will have the 572 engine, Still nothing beats the looks and performance of the First and Second Generation Camaros. Those were the REAL Camaro Muscle years!

  70. 70 camarokid79

I think it is important to create a new camaro. It doesn’t need to be even close to a mustang. The camaro is supposed to be an inexpensive American muscle machine. I think it needs to be REMINICENT of the 1st gen. However, it needs to be a new machine. A symbol of Chevrolet, and GM innovation. I want power, and style including the sweet coupe style of the 2nd gen. Let’s do it Chevy.

  71. 71 Kevin Jacobs

The lines are beautiful. I think that if you really compare you will see the spirit of the ‘69 in this car, yet they made it different in it’s own way. Different is not bad. This is the muscle car that America has missed for so long. Mustang tried, and did an OK job…it’s a bit too small…Chevy has hit the mark! It’s time to build this car!

  72. 72 fantasydragon

ok, for all you people that are saying “you should have done a retro of the first and second gen. camaro” ya that might have been cool, BUT NO, HELL NO, first and second gen. camaro are classic camaro, there should not be a retro of them, they should stay classic, besides that, if they would have made a retro, then the next desigh would have had to be something different, like what happened here, they might decide to stop making them, if its not a retro, it is easier to make modifacations to it, or change it, with out haveing to totally redesign the hole car, and a big part of chevy’s costomers are teenagers, wich by the way allot of them like new designs that look more sporty, allthou i will agree that the camaro shouldnt look sporty, but what sells sells. so they didnt make a retro, woop-di-freakin-do, GET OVER IT

  73. 73 TEAMVOLKRACERS

its sucks and everyone knows it. they should leave the design that was shown in the magazine popular hot rodding. That was a camaro. Plus the inside looks nasty whats with all the plastic. I love camaro and chevy but if they want to keep it like that they better change the camaro. lets kick the imports ass like when we had real muscle cars in the 60’s.

  74. 74 Fastone

What’s this, the Camaro should not look sporty. Do you even know what you’re talking about? The Camaro is supposed to be a Sports car, not a Ma and Pa car.

  75. 75 Slebonson

fantasydragon Iam 35 y.o. and I love new design of the chevy cars. I’ve never seen a teenager diving a 50K corvette yet either. So saying that only teens drive chevy is false! The new camaro if chevy builds it will not be a classic for at least 20 years. It will be it’s own car and carry on the camaro name well. I’ll be buying one when/if they come out. Besides my 2000 CAMARO is getting a little tired.

  76. 76 73TYPELT

My first car a 1973 LT, My first new car a 1986 Z28. Please make a new Camaro but don’t make it a corvette. The lines of a 67-68 perfect, V-8 perfect, V-6 base model perfect, give it muscle but keep it simple. The working mans muscle car not an over priced wanna be vette!!!

  77. 77 Fastone

Fastone: I am 50 y.o. and am an original owner of a 1977 Camaro. I bought the car brand new in Sept.1976. Just rebuilt the engine this last winter. Now am pushing about 400 H.P. I’ve been around cars also for quiet some time.
I’d hang on to your 2000. You’ll feel sorry! Get the engine rebuilt and hop it up a little more. Believe me, it’s worth it! Unless you really want something different.

  78. 78 mastrchiefz_gurl

I need some information from anyone that can help.
I am trying to find out information on this:

1995 Chevrolet Z28 Dale Earnhardt Sig Series

Where can I get more info on this car???

I found one and I am very seriously considering buying it… but I want to know ALL the facts I can before I do it!!!

    HELP!!!!

  79. 79 Kevin Jacobs

This Camaro is styled in the spirit of the ‘69. There is no reason to make it exactly like the 1st and 2nd generation Camaro, but keeping the lines similar to those was important to achive the reaction that Chevy is getting for this car. I, for one, think they nailed it!

I have already bought my place in line and am just waitng for the “all set” from the factory. This car will be in my garage for life, and anyone who is not impressed with it, and won’t be buying it, will be drooling over it in 20 years at the Barrett-Jackson…mine by the way won’t be for sale!

  80. 80 Linda Kaupas

    http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2006/08/2008_camaro.html

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that on Thursday GM will announce the production of a new Chevrolet Camaro based on the 2006 concept car shown here. The announcement is possibly the worst-kept secret in Detroit. When it debuted, the concept car wowed almost everyone, and with the new Mustang released in 2005 still going strong, a new Camaro should find an audience. The announcement comes on the heels of Chrysler confirming plans for a production Challenger, which also debuted at the 2006 Detroit auto show.

A V-6 and two V-8 engines are anticipated when the Camaro rolls out, likely as a 2009 model. It will be rear-wheel drive, and one of the powertrains could offer cylinder deactivation to raise mileage. Even with gas prices rising faster than we can follow, we think there’s room for another muscle car on the automotive landscape. At least this one.

[FREE PRESS EXCLUSIVE: Camaro to roar back by 2008, Detroit Free Press]

  81. 81 chrystyle918

I think it’s great good job gang

  82. 82 Slebonson

Hey fastone, I’ve been thinking of keeping my 2000 and doing what you suggested. Actually thinking about putting the new 7liter 500hp motor in it! Now that would be FUN to drive. It’s such a clean car it only has 30k miles on it and hate to tear the engine out before it’s time. On the other hand I have a 80 camaro that I’ve been playing with and am trying to come up with the money to put a 400 hp V8 in it.

  83. 83 Slebonson

Linda, There’s always room for another muscle car in the automotive world! (my world anyway!) hahaha.

  84. 84 casperlynn

I love the ideal that the camaro is comming back.I see they are modeling it after the 69. I had a 69 about 10yrs ago , and it just wasn’t what I wanted.I have always loved the 67 and 68’s. The frontend on the 69’s just seemed longer for some reason.I would love to see them revived the 67 or 68’s at a affordable price.most of us baby boomers are at retireing age and are on fixed incomes now.

  85. 85 razorback

i am in love with the new camaro….its looks are perfectly blended with retro and new things and it does so well at resembling the 69 model. i am the person who is getting the first camaro in arkansas and i cant wait for it.

  86. 86 casperlynn

I was just reading some of the comments about the now camaro’s, and I have to agree with Kwarchak’s comment he made on 6-25-06. I never was a mustang person, until I had a 94 conv.5.0 and I loved it. even thought I got a few speeding tickets in it. It made feel young again, which all of us like to do.I kept the mustang for one reason though. I had been told by a friend that chevy was going to make the camaro’s look just like the 67’s.and so I kept the car so I could trade it off for a new camaro. And then they stopped making them all together. So when I saw the new ford mustangs, and they looked just like the fastbacks, I realy liked them. But my heart has always been the 67’s and 68’s camaro,so I realy hope chevy makes a little changes, and has them look more plain ,just like the 67’s and 68’s.

  87. 87 JB

Well guys. Its happenen. The Camaro is commin back!! This car is gonna sell like hot cakes. I think that GM made the right choice. What a beautiful car!!!

  88. 88 Chico

I gotta have this Camaro ,I got a 2002 T A firebird with WS-5 I’m not giving up .I always had GM cars they all been good.

  89. 89 jslovesrm

I still have my 1994 Camaro which I was too happy to buy at the time, because I so hated the boxy look of the Generation 3 Camaro of the 80’s. I was working for Chevy when the C5 Corvette came out a couple years ago, and at the same time (basically) they stopped making the Camaro. I thought I would end up buying a Corvette then, cuz I love the C5 and every last innovation they implemented. But you know what? THIS NEW CAMARO WILL BE FAR MORE HOT!!!! I want it just like the concept! It’s beefy. It looks like the big, brawny son of the Gen 1 Camaro and I’ll buy 2 if I can. Good job boys. Now, throw down!!!!!

  90. 90 waggo

Sorry, but this new Camaro does not look like a Camaro. Maybe if I saw the real thing on the street I’d think differently. The new Mustang looks like a Mustang, I like it.

  91. 91 68ssgirl

I love the new Camaro! I am a diehard Chevy fan and I would love to add this Camaro to my collection. I would like to see it be a little more “muscle car” and not so much luxury car. We need to be proud of where we came from.

  92. 92 Spice

A new Camaro? Possibly one of the best moves that Chevy has ever made. I have to agree with so many other Camaro fans—the car is one beautiful machine. I can’t tell you how unhappy I was when the word came that Camaro would be discontinued but this makes up for it all. I hope that you will make a Z28 version and maybe do away with the ragtop. How about a retractable hardtop?

  93. 93 Jeremy Hoffman

Hey, Camaro fans! All I ask is that GM produces the new Camaro with a blast from the past and gives us what the Camaro used to be. We as GM owners need a Ponycar to pound the pavement with the Mustang. I have been an avid Camaro owner since I was 14 and currently own that first Camaro I purchased as well as my latest venture the 2001 SS Camaro.
I have to say that the latest really looks down on my 79′, but I have no complaints about either car. I wish the 79′ was as fast as the 2001..haha.. Any how GM. you need to keep myself and everybody else happy if you want those of us to buy this next gen. So I just ask that you make it everything it should be “1969″. I hate the taillights as well as the nose, come on that is what everbody see’s as we drive these hot cars down the road. I guess if we have to live with what the engineers have come up with I will never own a Gen.5 Camaro.. GM. needs to let us who have drove the market for these cars all these years have the say in what it is that we want..
Happy Cruisin! Ls1camaroboi~ Central Lake, Michigan

P.S. Lets keep it real! :)

  94. 94 camarolovincowgirl

I really am not pleased, when I was 18, My first car was a burgandy, 1989 , v8, rs, convertible, ever since that day I have been a die hard fan, but what the hell is this? It looks like a normal car…I waited, and waited, for a new one to come out, I figured, hey, if camaros still turn heads from earlier years, the new one should look awesome, boy, was I WRONG…a huge dissapointment, thats my opinion.

  95. 95 Kevin J

Oh camarolovingirl…nothing good came out of the 80’s…just look back at the hair, the clothes, the dawn of the plastic car!

This new Camaro is the soul of the 70’s muscle car generation, reborn! Those 80’s and early 90’s models were just “Journey” Jukeboxes…that’s it!

This car will make history for the Camaro all over again! King of the muscle cars!!!

Look back at the history behind this car and you’ll see why this is the EXACT Camaro that should be built…it’s perfect!

  96. 96 HauntedFog

I Have owned several Camaros and Firebirds and I thought is was a big mistake to stop making them. Now with the new Camaro I think GM has once again missed the mark. The people want a remake of the 67-69 Camaro not what GM is offering. Just look at the remake of the Mustang and Challenger that is what GM should have done with the Camaro. I have not talked to anyone who likes this new Camaro. I was really looking forward to the remake of the 70 Trans AM, but if they do to it what they did to the Camaro they should not even bother!

  97. 97 viper50214

just received an e-mail from HauntedFog and to say the least he’s right. The new camaro’s should have been made to look like the first generation camaro. now thats said, i hope it falls flat on its face.

  98. 98 fantasydragon

ok, yet again another post from me yay, o well, ok down to the point im thinking about, i keep hearing “the camaro should be modeled after the first gen camaro” ok, may be, i like it the way it is, but guess what, MOST OF THE PEOPLE HERE ALREADY THINK THAT IT SHOULD BE MODELED AFTER THE FIRST GEN CAMARO (NOT ALL THOUGH), you can stop saying that, that is the way the car is modeled, and its probably going to stay that way for the most part, but if you look at the front of the car, it looks happy, and i would be happy inside the car driving it allong with allot of other people, it doesnt really matter what the car looks like, to me it still looks really cool, and even though it doesnt look like the first gen camaro, i bet its still reall fun to drive

  99. 99 Lura

Hey “viper50214″ if you dont like the new camaro sooo much…then why do you keep coming to this website? just wondering. personaly…i LOVE the new Camaro!and i cant wait till it comes out!

  100. 100 FZ67RS

i think it looks good but it needs a little work like the the tail lights if your going to make it look like an old camaro why put corvette style tail lights on it and get rid of the vent at the nose of the hood and open the grill up a bit so it looks more like the 69 its trying to copy i think they should style it more like a 67-68 and not so much like a cadilac or a 69

  101. 101 fantasydragon

woohoo, i got me an 86 mustang, i traded in my 69 camaro for it
