Just after the sale of the Keselowski race car, one of the most acclaimed race drivers of all time, Mario Andretti, stood at the podium to announce the sale of the MagnaFlow Mario Andretti Edition 2011 Camaro SS, with all proceeds benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project Inc.
The Andretti Camaro raised $75,000 for the cause, with winner bidder David Clark of Onaiaska, Wis., re-donating the car to be sold again for the veteran’s charity at a future Barrett-Jackson auction.
Veteran race driver and performance-driving-school owner Bob Bondurant and performance-car pro Steve Saleen of SMS Supercars introduced another top charity-car sale benefitting Cox Charities and the Make A Wish Foundation. The 620-horsepower 2011 Camaro SMS Bondurant created by Saleen raised $100,000 for the charitable causes.

At the Barrett-Jackson 10th Annual Florida Auction that took place earlier this month the very first 45th Anniversary Chevrolet Camaro Convertible VIN 001 was sold for $150,000. There was one good reason why the buyer offered so much for the car that is powered by a a 6.2-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed manual transmission. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Way back in 1969 – a year some consider to be the apogee of Camaro history – the automaker built just 69 ZL1s, each powered by an aluminum-block 427-cubic-inch V8 that was otherwise unavailable in the Camaro and built specifically for drag racing.
The 1969 COPO Camaro ZL1 is the “crown jewel” of GM Muscle cars, an aluminum-block 427 racing machine with only 69 ever built in connection with a back-door deal between Chevrolet’s fleet division and an Illinois car dealer named Fred Gibb.
