Next-gen Chevy Camaro confirmed for 2016MY, 6.2L V8 engine to remain

Inside sources speaking with GMInsideNews have apparently confirmed that the next-gen Camaro has entered the computer system as a 2016 model year car, along with claimed confirmation of retention for the 6.2-liter V8 found in the current SS model.

While the confirmation of a V8 engine may seem like a no brainer for a Camaro, several past rumors had suggested that the next-gen Camaro would arrive on a variation of the platform set to underpin the soon-to-be-released Cadillac ATS sedan, a platform that wasn’t believed to be capable of housing a V8 engine under the hood. But alas, if sources are to be believed, it appears as if that concern has been put to rest.

Aside from those details, GM isn’t letting much out yet, aside from past suggestions that the car will indeed shrink by about a foot in overall length, although don’t expect much to change in regards to the wheelbase. Length won’t be the only thing shrinking as weight is definitely a huge concern that is expected to be addressed in a big way.
