Los Angeles Auto Show: 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

Shown on Tuesday, Nov. 15: 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 convertible.

What is it? A tire-melting top dog for Chevrolet’s popular Camaro line, the open-air edition.

Is it real? Yes, it goes into production next year; a ZL1 coupe was previously announced and is scheduled to enter production in early 2012. Convertible sales follow late next year.

What they said: “The Camaro ZL1 convertible will be one of the most powerful and most capable convertibles available at any price,” said Al Oppenheiser, the car’s chief engineer, at a preview showing of the car on the eve of press previews for the Los Angeles auto show. “This car is guaranteed to put a smile on your face any time you drop the top or hit the gas.”
